Life at the University of Sussex

Student Life at the University of Sussex

The Sussex community is a rich cultural mix, with staff and students combined from more than 150 countries. This means there are lots of opportunities to meet people from all over the world.

To help students settle in, the Students’ Union runs a Buddy Scheme, which is a great way to make new friends, while their Residential Life team and Student Connectors organise social gatherings and events.

There are several international events on campus, from One World Sussex week to watching the Super Bowl at one of the bars. Students can buy international food from the on-campus cafés, shops and food stalls, including a weekly street food market during term time. With a Language Café, and societies, students have an opportunity to explore new cultures and meet others who share similar interests.
